CASABLANCA

United States Consulate General

Casablanca, Morocco

A short film by Notion Workshop for the Miller Hull Partnership

For the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations

The United States Consulate General in Casablanca features a patterned façade and is surrounded by lush gardens. This animation seeks to highlight the way light and shadow play on the façade and the gardens throughout the day. Perceived depth changes as light moves through the aluminum panels, marked by various levels of perforation and angularity. The elaborately landscaped grounds are alive with movement as a gentle breeze follows you from scene to scene, gently swaying the palm branches and rustling the grasses.

A few key elements root you in Casablanca: arrival and departure by tram, contextual neighborhood buildings as well as a glimpse of a mosque from the central atrium. An American flag catching the breeze acts as a storytelling bookend to this animated visualization of the Consulate project.

Video includes a soundtrack so audio on!
